Using simple tools like magnifying glasses\, you will uncover the Arboretum’s plants\, animals\, and other seasonal highlights that bring the woodland trails to life. \nAbout your guides:  \nForest Knight is one of Tyler’s Lead Educators. They help run Tyler’s field trips and summer camp programs. They have a love of nature and have worked in the outdoor education field for 4+ years.  \nBarbara Frank is a PA Master Naturalist\, a Tyler-trained docent\, a yoga teacher\, an artist\, and a true lover of nature in all of its manifestations. She leads tours for children and adults.  \nPRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED \nThis program is best suited for elementary school-aged children accompanied by an adult. Family and siblings of any age are welcome. All children must be accompanied by a registered adult. \nCheck in at the Visitor Center\, where you’ll meet your guide. As with any walk at Tyler\, sturdy shoes are suggested. PLEASE NOTE: Strollers may not be ideal on some of our trails. We recommend a carrier if you plan to bring an infant or young child. Weather or other factors may adjust the day’s topic\, but nature will always shine through! Tyler’s Wister Rhododendron Garden is home to one of the largest and most significant rhododendron collections in the country\, featuring hundreds of varieties and species. \nAbout your guide: As an experienced docent\, Nancy enjoys sharing many aspects of Tyler with others\, including the gardens\, collections\, and history. DESCRIPTION:An informative\, guided\, two-hour hike that takes you through meadows\, woods\, and occasionally streamside. These walks are designed for individuals with a passion for plants\, their role in ecology\, or those looking to learn more. Although the focus is on plants\, we will talk about whatever we might see while we are out! In the winter months\, we will focus on identification through seeds\, berries\, foliage\, and branches. \nAll levels of knowledge are welcome. There may be some periods of moderately paced hiking\, so wear comfortable hiking shoes. Feel free to bring a camera and a wildflower guide\, such as Peterson’s Field Guide or Newcomb’s Wildflower Guide\, if you’d like\, and enjoy a botanical-filled walk.

SUMMARY:Tyler Arboretum: Family Explorers
DESCRIPTION:FOR ALL AGES \nConnect your family with the outdoors on this fun\, interactive nature exploration designed to spark curiosity and wonder. Using simple tools like magnifying glasses\, you will uncover the Arboretum’s plants\, animals\, and other seasonal highlights that bring the woodland trails to life. \nAbout your guides:  \nForest Knight is one of Tyler’s Lead Educators. They help run Tyler’s field trips and summer camp programs. They have a love of nature and have worked in the outdoor education field for 4+ years.  \nBarbara Frank is a PA Master Naturalist\, a Tyler-trained docent\, a yoga teacher\, an artist\, and a true lover of nature in all of its manifestations. She leads tours for children and adults.  \nPRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED \nThis program is best suited for elementary school-aged children accompanied by an adult. Family and siblings of any age are welcome. All children must be accompanied by a registered adult. \nCheck in at the Visitor Center\, where you’ll meet your guide. As with any walk at Tyler\, sturdy shoes are suggested. PLEASE NOTE: Strollers may not be ideal on some of our trails. We recommend a carrier if you plan to bring an infant or young child. Weather or other factors may adjust the day’s topic\, but nature will always shine through! In case of inclement weather\, the tour will move indoors. \nMEMBERS:  FREE \nNON-MEMBERS: $18 per adult; $10 per child ages 3-17; children two and under are free and do not need to be registered. Admission is included in your price\, so feel free to stay the day! \nGUEST PASS HOLDERS: (for non-members only): FREE. Please give your guest passes to the Visitor Center Associate at check-in\, or inform them that you are accompanying a Family or higher-level member as their guest. This program is free with your guest pass admission\, so feel free to stay as long as you’d like after the program!
