Painting with the plants and materials that you’re working to bring to life on canvas puts that connection in sharp focus. Gain insight into the past\, present\, and future of our local ecosystems\, and deepen your understanding of the forces shaping the environment around us. \nAbout your guide: Since retiring from Penn Dental Medicine\, Dr. Woody Kotch has reignited his passion for the natural world. Through training at Tyler\, the PA Master Naturalist program\, the Xerces Society Ambassador Training\, and his own research\, he developed new tours for Tyler\, blending environmental science and history. Woody is dedicated to sharing his excitement for nature and raising awareness about our changing environment. \nWhat to expect: \n\nCanceled 48 hours in advance if inclement weather\, all registrants will be contacted\nMax one-mile hike on mostly even ground\, some uphill\nCheck in at the Visitor Center\, where you’ll meet your guide\n\nWhat to bring: \n\nDress for the weather\nShoes suitable for walking\n\nPRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED \nMEMBERS (sign in for your discount!): FREE \nNON-MEMBERS:  FREE with admission: Adult: $18 each; Senior: $15 each; Teens ages 12-17: $10 each. SUMMARY:Tyler Arboretum: Saturday Wildflower Walk
DESCRIPTION:An informative\, guided\, two-hour hike that takes you through meadows\, woods\, and occasionally streamside. These walks are designed for individuals with a passion for plants\, their role in ecology\, or those looking to learn more. Although the focus is on plants\, we will talk about whatever we might see while we are out! In the winter months\, we will focus on identification through seeds\, berries\, foliage\, and branches. \nAll levels of knowledge are welcome. There may be some periods of moderately paced hiking\, so wear comfortable hiking shoes. Feel free to bring a camera and a wildflower guide\, such as Peterson’s Field Guide or Newcomb’s Wildflower Guide\, if you’d like\, and enjoy a botanical-filled walk.
