Tyler Arboretum: Painting with Nature Workshop

April 12 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

FOR ADULTS AND YOUNG ARTISTS AGES 10-17

Turn natural materials into paint and learn basic watercolor techniques while making a step-by-step painting of beautiful spring blooms! Take some of your pigments, your artwork, and a piece of Tyler in the spring home with you.

About your instructor: Tyler Arboretum Lead Educator Erin Conway is thrilled to bring this painting workshop to Tyler. Nature has always inspired her own artwork, and art has a unique way of connecting people with nature. Painting with the plants and materials that you’re working to bring to life on canvas puts that connection in sharp focus. Also, you get to make a mess experimenting and creating fun colors – what’s not to love?

What to expect:

  • Rain or shine, we will move under cover/inside if necessary
  • Arrive early to check in at the Visitor Center and enjoy the 5-minute walk to the Edible Garden Classroom.
  • Short walk to where you will be painting.
  • Painting outdoors (en plein air)

What to bring:

  • Dress for the weather.
  • Some paints will stain, so wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy.
  • Favorite paint brushes, if you have them (brushes will be supplied)
  • Favorite portable lawn chair, if you have one (seating will be supplied)

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED
