Tyler Arboretum: Firefly Walk

FOR ADULTS 18+ AND TEENS AGES 13-17

Experience Tyler after dark as fireflies light up the landscape.

Step into fields, meadows, and forest at dusk and explore the Arboretum in a whole new way. Listen for nighttime sounds, notice shifting shadows, and take in the scents of the evening. Look for fireflies along the way as your guide points out their flickering lights, explains how they communicate, and shares simple ways you can help fireflies thrive at home.

• Gates open at 7:45 pm.
• Check in with the staff associate on the Visitor Center Patio.
• Group departs from Visitor Center Patio promptly at 8 pm; please arrive on time.
• Restrooms are available at the beginning and end of the program.

What to expect:

• Guided leisurely paced walk on uneven terrain in low light and dark conditions
• Changes in walking surfaces, including pavement, grass, gravel, and wooded trails
• Possible short sections of steep trail
• Opportunities to observe fireflies
• Suitable for adults and youth comfortable walking up to 1.5 miles on uneven terrain

What to wear & carry:

• Sturdy, closed-toe shoes or hiking boots with good tread
• Weather-appropriate clothing
• Flashlight
• Insect repellent (please apply at home)
• Water bottle

PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED. All youth must be accompanied by an adult.

Pricing:

MEMBERS (Sign in for your 15% member discount!): Adults: $17 each; Teens (ages 13-17): $12.75 each

NON-MEMBERS: Adults: $20 each; Teens (ages 13-17): $15 each

GUEST PASS HOLDERS (for non-members only): Adults: $17 each; Teens (ages 13-17): $12.75 each. Guest pass holders must submit guest passes at check-in or be accompanied by a Tyler Family level or higher member. Each guest must provide a guest pass.
