Hedgerow Theatre: I, Banquo

March 20 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Hedgerow’s spring series kicks off with the powerful return of I, Banquo, an electrifying solo performance by award-winning international theatre artist Tim Crouch. This reimagining of Shakespeare’s Macbeth shifts the lens to the Scottish King’s closest friend and fellow thane.

In the original play, Banquo is murdered at Macbeth’s command. In this haunting, fast-paced production, he rises from the grave to confront his former brother-in-arms—and the audience. Speaking directly to us, Banquo revisits the witches’ prophecies and invites us to wrestle with timeless questions of ambition, loyalty, and moral choice. “Just imagine,” Banquo urges. “Imagine your best friend for life… your brother-in-arms… imagine this closest of all friends is actually evil. And you’ve been utterly blind to it.”

This limited engagement fuses Shakespeare’s classical text with bold theatricality, live electric guitar accompaniment, and gripping contemporary storytelling. I, Banquo is a not-to-be-missed, visceral meditation on betrayal that is both ancient and modern.

Run time is approximately 50 minutes. Appropriate for ages 12+ due to elevated language and description/depictions of violence.
