Going out for a round or two of drinks with friends or co-workers is a great way to squeeze in a little social time into a busy week. Add in a shared activity, like karaoke or a trivia night? Now, you’re looking at a bonafide great night out on the town.
Over the past few years, all kinds of neighborhood bars, cozy dives and lively pubs in Delco have added Quizzo and karaoke nights to their events calendars. That means you don’t have to trek into the city to show off your singing chops or flex your wealth of random-fact knowledge. If they’re scheduled for weeknights (and many of them are), a lot of these events start on the earlier side, so you can still get in a solid night of fun and be home at a reasonable hour.
Here’s where to find awesome karaoke and trivia nights in Delco:
Sunday scaries? Not at The Fainting Goat, a modern gastropub with a killer draft list and creative cocktails. They bid farewell to the weekend with karaoke every Sunday night, starting at 8:30 p.m. Order up a plate of their famous tots (we like the Tinicum Tots, smothered in special cheese sauce and topped with diced jalapeños) and a frosty beer to fuel up, then get ready to belt out your favorite ballad! If you end up staying to hang after, check out the late-night menu.

Karaoke at a diner? You can cross this one off your bucket list! Every Thursday evening, this classic diner hosts Karaoke Night with local KJ Bobby Smith. These lively, fun-filled evenings are the perfect time to showcase your vocal stylings and explore the seemingly endless menu. Try the Sage Burger, with grilled onions, mushrooms, bacon and Swiss, a chicken salad club, a patty melt, or whatever your favorite classic diner order is. Indulge in a towering slice of cake from the on-premise bakery, and then get to singing!
4400 Chichester Ave., Boothwyn; (610) 364-7900.
There is always a party vibe at this tiki bar, which is an unlikely-but-fabulous extension of Romarco’s Italian restaurant. The colorful patio, strong and fruity drinks, and tropical decor on the covered, heated patio keeps the good times rolling, whatever the weather. In addition to live bands and DJs, there’s a rocking Quizzo every Tuesday which happens to pair perfectly with a crew of friends and a round of frozen daiquiris.
451 E. Baltimore Ave., Clifton Heights; (610) 626-7414.
Part-Irish pub, part-sports bar, part-beer garden, The Yard is a lively destination in Havertown, with a tasty food menu and plenty of delectable drinks. Every Wednesday night at 7 p.m., roll through for Quizzo, where all sorts of trivia tidbits are served up for your consideration. If classic games are more your speciality, try the Game Show Palooza every Thursday night from 7-9 p.m.

Here’s how to win your Wednesday: Head to State Street Pub, one of Media’s best spots for creative beverages and fresh food. We suggest starting with happy hour, which takes place every weekday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Enjoy affordable cocktails, like classic margaritas and Old Fashioneds, and share some savory small plates, like BBQ pulled pork nachos and fried calamari. Then, kick it at the bar until 8 p.m., when weekly Quizzo pops off! If you end up settling in for the night, you’ll be happy to know that the pub is open 2 a.m. every single day.
37 E. State St., Media; (610) 627-2515.
Every Tuesday at this homegrown watering hole, you and your friends can compete for the chance to win great prizes just for knowing random facts! Quizzo kicks off at 7:30, a great way to wind down from dinner. There are tons of craft draft beers to choose from (including great local breweries, like 2SP and Levante) and unique cocktails; the Marple Tea, with bourbon, oolong tea, passionfruit and lemon juice, is a customer favorite. If you’re feeling snacky after a few rounds of trivia, order up the twice-cooked wings, gravy fries or fried pickles.
31 N. Sproul Rd., Broomall; (610)-355-2240.
