Where to Have a Fab Girls’ Night Out in Delco

Call the girls! It’s time to plan a night out on the town! It can be so re-centering to take a break from the day-to-day and catch up with your besties over delicious food and drinks.

Bonding over work, kids, relationships or whatever keeps you connected is a restorative ritual that helps keep the women in your life closely knit. With everyone’s calendars full, it can be a challenge to schedule, so when you actually can pull girls’ night off, make it count!

We’ve got some super-fun ideas for your next gathering—right here in Delco! No need to fight traffic or take an expensive rideshare into Philly; our county’s vibrant communities have you covered with chic restaurants, boisterous bars, and comfy cafes that are perfect for gabbing and relaxing for a few precious hours. And, because we know it can be tricky to plan outings in the evenings, we’ve included a few recommendations for other times of the day.

Copy and paste a few of these ideas into the group chat, and start planning your next hang:

Dinner at Terrain Cafe

You’ll be hard pressed to find a restaurant as lovely as Terrain Cafe, as beautifully landscaped and decorated as the elegant gardening center next door. It feels like dining in a (perfectly manicured) greenhouse! There are plenty of tables on the outdoor patio for warmer weather, and, for a really special touch, your party can reserve one of Terrain Cafe’s Woodland Village Tents, private outdoor dining areas for groups of up to eight guests.

Every item on the farm-to-table menu is considerately composed, from the coffee and cocktails to the apps and entrees. Cheers with a garden cocktail (we like the pretty-in-pink Strawberry Mint Mojito) and split a few snacks to start: the artisan cheese board, roasted carrots with green goddess dressing, and an order of truffle fries will do nicely. Larger plates include the wildly popular seared salmon and the flaky chicken pot pie. Reservations are strongly encouraged.

Girls night in Delco

Taco Tuesday at Streetlight Kitchen & Bar

If you and the ladies are looking for a more casual (but still plenty festive) party vibe, head to Streetlight Kitchen & Bar for Taco Tuesday. If weather permits, post up at one of the breezy outdoor tables and dig into a plate of tacos (two for $9!) and $7 margs—or, if you’re feeling a little spendier, try The Bom cocktail, with mezcal, orange liqueur, blood orange, ginger beer, agave and lime juice.

Anyone in your crew avoiding alcohol won’t be left out! Streetlight has a fun mocktail list, including the Blue Limes, with blueberry compote, lime, agave and a splash of sparkling soda.

BYO Local Brews to Delco Axe House

If your friend group loves an interactive activity, try axe throwing! Delco Axe House in Broomall is a state-of-the-art facility where safety comes first, thanks to the helpful, experienced staff. Reserve an axe-throwing lane; each private lane includes two bullseyes for up to 15 people, which costs $35 per person for a two-hour session (or, $25 per person for one hour).

All guests at the Axe House are welcome to bring in their own food and beverages. We suggest picking up a sixer or two of Delco-made craft beer, perhaps from Iron Hill Brewery, 2SP Brewing Co., Ship Bottom Brewery or Sterling Pig Brewery!

Cocktails and Snacks at IdleWild at Towne House

On mild nights, one of the liveliest spots in Delco to be is IdleWild, the rooftop patio at Towne House in the heart of Media. The vibes are immaculate, as they say, with great music, twinkly lights and a creative menu stacked with unique drinks and bites. Enjoy the sunset over a round of frozen margaritas or hard cider Aperol spritzes—the wine and beer lists are also well-curated.

On the snacks side of things, you can’t go wrong with the smashed guacamole, cheesesteak rolls and stuffed long hots. Seafood lovers will be stoked to see oysters on the half shell, tuna tartare and other raw bar options.

Fancy Lattes and Pastries at Maison Lotus

This new French-Vietnamese cafe in Wayne (part of the same restaurant group as Teikoku, Azize, Blue Elephant and others) is simply gorgeous. While it’s moody and dark in the evening — it would be a great date spot — the dining room is light and airy during the day. Find yourselves a leather booth or a seat at the pretty bar and enjoy the relaxed cafe service.

Crave-worthy drinks, like miso caramel lattes, pandan mochas and orchid vanilla tea, are above and beyond standard coffee shop fare. And the pastries are little works of art! Think: cheese danish with passionfruit curd, yuzu lemon tart with whipped meringue, and earl grey crepe cake with pastry cream. Order one of everything and trade bites for a decadent daytime outing!

Tapas Brunch at Amada

Iron Chef Jose Garces’ suburban outpost of his wildly popular restaurant concept is a lively brunch destination, with something for everyone. The traditional brunch-girls will love the mimosas with Spanish cava, the crab Benedict with chorizo, and the fried French toast with glazed apples and sherry caramel. Tapas fans have so much to explore: bacon-wrapped dates, patatas bravas and garlic shrimp, just to name a few.

Or, spring for the family-style brunch menu: for $27 per person, everyone gets to share a bread basket, an eggy tortilla española (Spanish omelet), and ham croquettes to start. Each friend can choose their own main dish, with ample sides of bacon and potatoes for the table. Pair it with a pitcher of one of Amada’s signature sangrias for a guaranteed good time.

555 E. Lancaster Ave., St. Davids; (484) 429-2158.
