Delicious, Delightful Donuts in Delco

Delicious, Delightful Donuts in Delco Overview

Want to make someone happy? Show up at their house with a box or bag of fresh donuts! Whether you choose fluffy yeasted donuts, rich cake donuts, a classic glaze or over-the-top frosting and sprinkles, these fun, fried pastries always spark joy. Perhaps that’s because they conjure childhood memories, or because there are so many styles and flavor combinations to try. Or maybe it’s because they’re easy to share, and everyone gets their own heavenly few bites.

When the cravings strike, it’s time to visit your local bakery or donut shop for some baked goods magic. While there may be a certain national donut chain on what feels like every corner, we encourage you to check out these great spots in your own community and neighboring towns. (Bonus: A lot of them have great coffee, too!)

Donut Haven

Tucked away in Booths Corner Farmers Market, where the cases are positively packed with fruit-stuffed donuts, glazed cruellers, sprinkles in every color, apple fritters, cream-filled eclairs and more! One house specialty is the open-faced bizmarks, a decadent German hole-less donut, filled with jam or pastry cream. Pro tip: Despite the name, there are other baked goods available, like the sticky buns, which have a loyal local following.

1362 Naamans Creek Rd., Garnet Valley; (610) 485-0775.

Linda’s Bakery

Also in Booths Corner, find Linda’s Bakery, another top spot for donuts in Delco. There is so much to choose from, we dare you to only pick six! From crunchy toasted coconut atop pillowy donuts filled with coconut custard, to raspberry and cream donuts to cinnamon-flecked apple cider donuts, it’s a donut smorgasbord! You truly cannot leave without trying Linda’s famous long johns, long, slender yeasted donuts which come in various flavors. Try the powdered vanilla for a simple treat, or a peanut butter jelly long john for an old school combo. Other fan-favorites include the custard pies, cinnamon raisin bread and the butter cake.

1362 Naamans Creek Rd., Garnet Valley; (610) 497-3933.

My Old Place Bakery

For almost 20 years, My Old Place Bakery has been serving the Lansdowne community with scratch-made, homey sweet treats. In addition to its beloved Tandy Cakes, danishes and bread pudding, there is some serious donut action here. Boston cream, filled to order, should be at the top of your list!

201 Shadeland Ave., Lansdowne; (610) 259-4000.

Mochi Heaven

For a whole new take on donuts in Delco, try a mochi donut! These Asian-inspired donuts are made with rice flour, which lends an impossibly light texture, with a very pleasing bouncy chew. At this casual walk-in cafe, the donuts are made fresh each day and come in a rainbow of tantalizing flavors, like matcha, cookies and cream, banana, mocha and salted caramel. Looking for a savory snack? Order up a Korean corn dog, coated in crunchy potato and gooey cubes of mozzarella.

7040 Terminal Square, Upper Darby; (215) 796-5555.

Mercado Latino Y Panadería

Just across West Chester Pike from Mochi Heaven, check out this small bakery and market, abundant with Latin American groceries and sweets. Among its specialties are churros (basically long, tubular donuts when you think about it) and conchas, buttery yeasted donuts with a streusel topping. Try them in classic, chocolate or strawberry!

Linvilla Orchards

Warm apple cider doughnuts and freshly made apple cider aren’t just for autumn — you can enjoy them anytime! While some bakeries only offer these on a seasonal basis, Linvilla Orchards keeps them in stock in its cute, rustic bakery all year long. Tender and tasty, these cider donuts are made every morning with vegetable shortening and Linvilla’s Own Apple Cider, then topped with a generous amount of cinnamon sugar. Eating one fresh out of the wax paper bag is a Delco rite of passage!

137 West Knowlton Rd., Media; (610) 876-7116.

Phatso’s Bakery

For a while now, locals have mourned the long-term temporary closure of Phatso’s in Chester. Weekend mornings just aren’t the same without their old-fashioned blueberry donuts, caramel-drizzled cream-filled donuts, flaky apple fritters, indulgent sweet potato donuts and perfectly crackly glazed donuts. Phatso’s “button holes” were also a huge hit with kids! We’re happy to report that owner Richard Wilcox intends to reopen Phatso’s Bakery at the end of June or early July 2025. Keep an eye on their Instagram for more up-to-the-minute information!

609 Welsh St., Chester; (610) 874-4240.

Maria’s Bakery

This locally owned bakery might look unassuming from the outside, but it’s a colorful, sugary wonderland inside! In addition to an array of cakes, cookies and pies, Maria’s does donuts right: bear claws stuffed with gooey almond paste, light, airy lady locks, St. Joseph’s cakes positively piled high with ricotta cream, fluffy eclairs enrobed with chocolate … we could go on! Stop in for yourself to delve into the gorgeous selection.

734 Chester Pike, Prospect Park; (610) 532-4720.

Jacquette’s Bakery

Pay a visit to this family-owned and -operated neighborhood bakery (here since 1980!) for a box of its famous vanilla buttercream-filled donuts. An absolute must-order is the Doissant, an ingenious mash-up that is part, donut, part croissant and 100% mind-blowing. Pro-tip: Jacquette’s makes stellar fastnachts (square, pillowy donuts) each year for Fastnacht Day, a Pennsylvania Dutch tradition on Shrove Tuesday/Fat Tuesday!

2076 Sproul Rd., Broomall; (610) 353-2550.

Federal Donuts & Chicken

Over the past decade, celebrity chef Michael Solomonv (of Zahav fame) has expanded his operation to include fast-casual concepts, including the super-popular Federal Donuts & Chicken. These no-nonsense cafes do just a few things, and they do them quite well: breakfast sandwiches, fried chicken, coffee, and, as you might expect from the name, donuts. We’re so excited that this local chain has opened its first full-service location in St. David’s — that means more fabulous donuts in Delco! Choose from “classic” in flavors like old-fashioned glazed and powered sugar; “fancy,” which are cake donuts in rotating gourmet flavors, like raspberry mascarpone, lemon bar cheesecake, cherry cordial and cannoli; and “hot and fresh” donuts, which are fried to order and tossed with flavored sugars. You can’t go wrong with any style, or all three!

232 N. Radnor Chester Rd., St Davids; (484) 580-2929.
