Start Your Day Right With These Next-Level Breakfast Sandwiches in Delco

Sometimes, there’s only time in the morning to jam a piece of toast and a hot coffee, or throw a yogurt in your bag to eat at school or work. But those scant breaks of the fast rarely last you until lunch! For a more substantial start to the day, there’s nothing quite like a breakfast sandwich, perhaps a hearty combination of eggs, cheese and meat, or a savory breakfast burrito or a fresh-baked bagel, loaded with shmear and toppings.

Here in Delco, we are breakfast aficionados, through and through, and no sub-par breakfast sandwiches will do. Fortunately, there are so many local delis, cafes, and bagel shops that have you covered! Budget a few extra minutes on your morning commute to stop by and scoop up one of these daybreak delights:

The Morton Monster at The Coffee Station

Don’t get scared off by the spooky moniker of this hunger-busting sandwich! The Morton Monster is a delicious combination of scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon, and sausage on grilled Texas toast, and can only be found at The Coffee Station, a community-favorite breakfast and lunch spot that’s been keeping locals fed since 1983.

If you’re not quite ready to rock a giant sandwich first thing in the morning, there are lighter options, like breakfast wraps, avocado toast, and classic egg-and-cheese on toast or a pretzel roll.

Porchetta Breakfast Sandwich at Napoletano Brothers

Italian delicacies are the specialty at Napoletano Brothers, and that culinary tradition carries through to the breakfast options, too! Check out the porchetta breakfast sandwich, which layers beautifully tender slow-roasted pork with over-easy eggs (scrambled is an option, too), broccoli rabe and sharp provolone on a brioche bun. To dial up the flavor, add roasted long hot peppers or roasted red peppers and a swipe of mayo.

While you’re in, don’t miss the excellent coffee program at Napoletano Brothers. Sip an espresso while you wait, or grab a seasonal latte, hot chocolate or regular cup of black coffee to-go!

186 Saxer Ave., Springfield; (610) 543-5687

Whitefish Bagel at Original Bagel

If you love mix-and-match offerings, Original Bagel is a great breakfast spot for you! This old-school bagel shop serves over two dozen flavors of bagels and bialys each day, along with 14 bagel toppings, and bacon, egg, cheese-style sandwiches.

When you’re craving something different, go for the whitefish salad sandwich—try it on an onion or rye bagel for a deli vibe, or choose a mini bagel if you just need a small nosh! For a sweet treat, add a homemade scone or donut (only on Fridays) to your order.

Breakfast Burger at Morningside Café

Warning: You might be tempted to go back to bed after taking down the substantial (and scrumptious) breakfast burger from Morningside Cafe! A generous eight-ounce burger patty is topped with a fried egg, crispy bacon, caramelized onions, Cooper Sharp cheese and sweet-meets-spicy maple-chili aioli. Add a side order of sweet potato fries with a drizzle of toasted sesame oil and a Mexican cold brew coffee, if you’re feeling extra indulgent!

790 Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills; (484) 800-8947.

The Eggle at The Hungry A

After decades establishing its reputation as a beloved greasy spoon, The Hungry A switched ownership in August of 2024. While some locals may have been concerned that too much would change, the new management has kindly kept favorites like, The Eggle, on the menu!

The Eggle is, in essence, a classic egg-and-cheese bagel sando that can be customized to your heart’s content. A few combinations you can try include sharp provolone + scrapple + grilled tomato, American cheese + ham + mushrooms, or Cooper Sharp + bacon + spicy mustard. Whatever flavors you’re craving, you’re bound to leave happy.

The Goldie Lox at The BrickHaus

Often, choosing smoked fish at breakfast means you’re forgoing eggs. But at The BrickHaus, you can have it all! The Goldie Lox sandwich is piled high with Atlantic smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, cream cheese, capers, tomato and red onion on a grilled bagel. It’s the best of both worlds!

Our second choice at this inventive cafe? The Breakfast BLT, topped with a fried egg and avocado with herbed mayo and a side of roasted potatoes.

The Monster at Jem’s Deli

Yes, there’s another “monster” breakfast sandwich in Delco: The Monster at Jem’s Deli! Only meat lovers need apply, as this carnivorous creation combines four types of meat (sausage, bacon, pork roll and scrapple), perfectly scrambled eggs and cheese, served on your choice of toast, kaiser roll, wrap or croissant.

There are veg-friendly options here, too, like the Veggie Breakfast Wrap, rolled up with scrambled eggs, broccoli rabe, mushrooms, peppers and onions.

The Mission Breakfast Wrap at Willow’s Garden Cafe

Fresh flavors and innovative ingredients are all over the menu at the charming Willow’s Garden Cafe. For a Tex-Mex twist on breakfast, try the Mission Breakfast wrap, a burrito with scrambled eggs, cheddar, avocado, salsa and an addictive chipotle ranch spread. Add bacon, sausage or extra veggies if your appetite is activated!

The coffee program here is tops: Add a matcha or chai tea latte, oat milk iced latte or vanilla cappuccino to your order for a special little treat.
